What is PowerCoach?
 

• PowerCoach is a communication and knowledge platform for athletes, coaches and scientists in cycling. It is a source of abundant information together with innovative tools to keep up with the latest training methods.
 

• PowerCoach technology gives you powerful features based on graphic data explorers and interactive analysis tools. We have done all the hard stuff - now you can use its power. With PowerCoach you reach a new level of competence and performance.
 

• PowerCoach provides what you need to improve your training or coaching productivity. Your time to take informed and intelligent decisions or to elaborate competent advise will decrease dramatically.
 

• With PowerCoach you get what you need to concentrate, explore, analyse, document, present and communicate information and know-how about training and performance in cycling faster than ever before!
 
 

Who is using PowerCoach?
 

• Latest versions of PowerCoach are high quality software products. Nevertheless, we are still focused on development. Therefore we do not push sales today.
 

• However, we make PowerCoach available to developer users. With a developer license, developer users make use of the software before final release of version 01.00.00 will be distributed.

First users were mainly professional cyclists, coaches and scientists. A great number of coaches, cyclists and triathletes of any performance level have now joined the PowerCoach developer group. It has continued to grow since 1996.
 

• We invite developer users to a personal meeting at our office in Sonvilier (Switzerland) to introduce the software and to provide appropriate start up training.

On this occasion, the users have the opportunity to get our answers to arising questions and concepts to optimize training and maximize performance using PowerCoach are discussed.
 

• Introductory meetings for developer users have been mandatory until version 00.08.09 of the software. Since release 00.08.10, we are distributing PowerCoach developer versions without this obligation.

NOTE:  Users may launch current PowerCoach developer versions choosing user language English, French or German. In depth documentation will be released with final version 01.00.00. PowerCoach Documentation remains minimal as long as we continue to upgrade developer versions of the software. We lend unlimited assistance to developer users by phone. However, it is their duty to call.
 
 

How to get PowerCoach for free?
 

• PowerCoach developer licenses are currently offered for free as a bundle package to our customers purchasing power measuring systems. Developer licenses include free upgrades and updates to final version 01.00.XX. If you are interested in these opportunities, please check the current offers of PowerCoach SHOP.
 
 

PowerCoach Developer License
 

• If you already own a power measuring system, or if you don't like to order a measuring system bundled with license, you may purchase a developer license for 500 EURO / 750 SFR (excluding tax).

If you need many licenses, you are eligible for special group or site offers (federations, clubs, teams, consultants, institutes).

Operating System and Computer Hardware
 

• PowerCoach runs on Microsoft Windows computer platform and Apple Mac OS computer platform using

 - Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista

 - Mac OS 7.5 to X.x

operating systems. With the exception of operating system dependent characteristics, all functions, tools and commands as well as look and feel are identical on both platforms.

NOTE:  Current developer versions of PowerCoach for Mac OS run in CLASSIC MODE if you must boot on Mac OSX. Final version 01.00.00 of PowerCoach for Mac OS will run native on Mac OSX.
 
 

• On Windows computers, good hardware support for graphics is important. You should have at least a faster Pentium III processor (or equivalent) and 128 MB of RAM.

To execute certain analysis on large data series, we recommend Pentium IV or equivalent Athlon processors and high performance graphics hardware.

• On Mac OS computers, you should have at least a G3 processor and 128 MB of RAM.

The new iMac or portable iBook computers are perfect hardware.

Supported Files of Data Series
 

• PowerCoach does not support direct communication with the hardware of measuring devices. However, PowerCoach imports easily (on Windows or Mac OS) the files of data series saved (on Windows or Mac OS) by the downloading software of the commonly used devices.
 

• Either on Windows or Mac OS, PowerCoach Developer Version 00.08.11 imports the following files of data series:

 - Ancarr Elite saved on Windows (BAUMANN & HALDI device)

 - E-Train saved on Windows (CATEYE device)

 - E-Train saved on Mac OS (CATEYE device)

 - HRM Files saved on Windows (POLAR device)

 - HR Analysis saved on Mac OS (POLAR device)

 - Power-Tap Link saved on Windows (E-TUNE device)

 - SPY Win saved on Windows (HUGER device)

 - SRM Training System saved on Windows (SRM device)

 - PowerCom saved on Mac OS (SRM device)

 - Winpuls saved on Windows
 
 

PowerCoach and SRM Training System
 

• You may import into PowerCoach (on Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS) SRM.TXT files downloaded and saved on Microsoft Windows computer platform with the "Export..." command of SRM Training System software.
 

• You may import into PowerCoach (on Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS) PowerCom files downloaded and saved on Apple Mac OS computer platform with PowerCom software:

 . PowerCom is a utility program to communicate with SRM PowerControl devices. It is an integrated part of PowerCoach Software for Mac OS and may be used exclusively along with a licensed PowerCoach application.

 . PowerCom downloads recorded data from SRM PowerControl units. With PowerCom, you may also set the most important parameters of SRM PowerControl devices.
 

• On Mac OS computers without serial port, you need a "Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter" with mini-DIN8 serial ports (Part# USA-28x, list price $79) together with a standard Macintosh modem cable (with mini-DIN8 serial connector). With a 25 pins modem cable you need also a 25/9 pins serial connector reduction (the SRM cable has a 9 pins serial connector).

NOTE:  You may get from PowerCoach Software a short cable for direct connection between Macintosh mini-DIN8 serial connector and SRM PowerControl. Using this special cable, you don't need the modem cable, the serial connector reduction and the original SRM cable. The price for the special cable is 75 SFR (excluding tax 7.6 %).
